Hi how are you all doing ? i got a question I guess.
My son hit a rock on his Honda XR70R on the right side case of the engine and there is a little scratch witg sone deep grooves....one of these groovesand oil is leaking ....not badly but it is leaking and I wanna fix it.

So I asked around and some folks told me to JB-Weld it and others say to Tig-Weld it ....they all seem to think tig-welding is the best way to fix it...but my honda guy says the cases are too thin..?
Wadda'ya think.....DanmacK

If you have someone who knows how to tig weld, or you do then there should be no problem. i had my case tig welded by my dad, and the only thing wrong was a little bit of bubbling, but that was because he was filling a void(hole) and not repairing a scratch.

Well the guy welded it and I filled her with oil and gas again and she fired right up.When he was welding there was some smoke and I couldn't figure out where it was coming from ...?...I think maby the crankcase breather ....or that is where I was thinking smoke that comes from heat in the engine would come from.....
It looked like it was comming from the area where the chain goes on the small sproket on the side of the engine...maby ...we did have the bike upside down on a table.
Well ....she started anyways and we put her on a fresh area of concrete in the garage at home and we'll see if a puddle forms or not !....and I am going to either change the oil and be happy or dump it again and find the leak and weld it again!
