| A lowering link would be longer. Allowing the swing arm to sit higher up in the bike in relation to the link. Probably only by 1/4 or 1/2 inch I would think as by the time you get to the wheel you are looking at at least 2-3 times that amount of lowering. |

| don't mean to sound dumb, but what is the purpose of a lowering link other then the obvious? |

Only the obvious- lower the seat height a bit, sacrificing some travel and perhaps making the suspension a bit softer.

| One thing I've noticed with mine lowered is that it's more stable on the street. |

+1 on that, especially if you also lower the fork tubes about an inch in the Triple Clamps. |

The bike is more stable on the dirt as well. But you've lost some suspension travel. Look, for us bigger guys (200Lbs+) as long as you realize this is a "HEAVY" trail bike you won't have any problems. In my opinion after lowering don't jump higher then 2 feet. |

| My experience with the lowering like is not as positive as some of the others. First I'm 5 foot 9 with riding boots on and 210 pounds with nothing on. When I bought my bike it has a WB lowering link and I liked it at 1st because I could touch the ground with both feet. After riding for some time getting back to being able to ride off road comfortably I started to ride harder, faster, and more narally stuff. The rear suspension was just to soft and the rear would unload and cause the rear to do funny things and get the bike really out of shape. This caused many wrecks. I finally replaced the lowering link with a stock one and my bike handles like a totally different bike. I have no more issues. Even my riding partner Growl who has been riding these 650l since 93 said the feel was crap with the lowering link. Now I can only put one foot down and I have to slide slightly off the seat to that side, but no biggie for me. In retrospect the lowering link acted just fine for riding on the road and mellow dirt. I would say to keep the stock link if you ride your bike on stuff that the non plated bike run. Just my .02 . |

| so the link works great to learn how to handle the bike but once you get used to it go back to the 11 inches of clearances and go like you stole it i have been ridin mine stock since new last summer and had thought about lowering it but i think im gonna leave it alone now that the height is not a problem anymore only one foot at a time and half off the seat will do for me thanks all |

| how about use a 1 1/2 lowering link however you aquire the set up and use a nice old school street bar with no or little rise with street tires. No need to drop the trees especially if you already have a corbin seat , pricey but oh what a joy to the but and a lowering ad on in it self from the stock seat,at least an 1" but claims are 1 1/2". |
