When you kick the bike repeatedly should there be any gas coming from the hose underneath the bike? Also what does the hot start do and how does it work? Thanks.

If you repeatedly kick the bike, you will flood it and gas will come out the overflow drain hose from the carb and onto the ground. The hotstart bascially leans out the mixture, it allows fresh cold air in to allow the bike to start easier when it is hot. When a bike gets really hot, it gets very rich because the hot air is thinner than cold air, so there is less air mixing with the fuel. Allowing cold air, that is more dense, to mix with fuel, you richen the mixture, making it easier to start.

Hope that helps!

If your wondering whats the best way to use the hot start ive found it works the best for my 05 CRF450X if you pull it in and when your at the bottom of the kick release the hot start and she should start right up on the 1-2nd kick, atleast mine does

hope this helps

If that little piece that goes into your carb from the hot start cable was not going back in all the way after you pulled the cable would this make it harder to start?
