Below is a listing of horsepower ratings per bike. All are US 49-State unless otherwise noted. These are not official ratings and as we all know, HP ratings can be a little different with each dyno.
- '98 XR650L - 34.6 (winind)
If you would like to post known HP ratings below, I will add it and your username to the list above, then delete your post below. Thanks in advance!

| I thought for sure the horsepower calculator would just give a canned answer like "That's not Enough!" |

First, horsepower ratings, that are obtained from measuring the rear wheel power, have everything to do with the rear tire itself. The more knobby the tire, the more resistance. Dirt tires have HUGE amounts of horsepower robbing resistance.
I had my XR650L tested on a Dynamometer, "Dyno", before and after installing the XR's Only slip-on silencer. The bike is a 2008 with only 500 miles. Below are the results.

Again, 29.6 max horsepower AFTER the mods doesn't sound that impressive, but it was obtained running on aPirelli XCMH knobby non-DOT tire. If the test was taken running on a 100% street tire, the HP rating would have been much better.

OK, so it's been awhile since my last real visit to the forums(sorry) due to family issues.
However, I had a brief conversation in a thread with someone about my HP/TQ out put. Though I did give rough numbers, and said I would look for my paper work to show it off(lets face it, we ALL love to show off), I didn't want to seem like a jerk not just give up on the guy. However, JUST this morning I did find my dyno papers, but now I have forgotten who it was I told all this too. So now I am posting it here for all to see, including unknown said individual(really sorry dude, I forgot who you are!!! )...

These numbers were made before the new carb spigot was put it, which I MIGHT not add power, then it adds better flow... Thats all I can say about that change. But everything is the same is in my signature. Feel free to email me with whatever questions you have, if any.
Have fun guys, ~Junior |

jrsride2002, thanks for the dyno info. I have a few questions to ask...
1# What tires were you using for the test
2# Turning your XR650L into a XR650R (horsepower that is) do you have to follow the R's routine maintenance schedule (namely valves and oil)
3# How's the clutch holding up after what seems to be a 40%+ jump in HP

1.) The tires that I had at the time were some Dunlop Trailmax's. Currently I am running some Bridgestone Spitfire's just cause I got them when I bought that parts bike a while back.
2.) Maintenance is a hard one to answer, because I did a lot of things on my own, and FORGOT a lot of thing in the process... I dont know the 650R's record or anything like that but, my maintenace seems to be ROUGHLY the same as it was stock.... Check/Add the oil every gas up(6 gallon tank and all), and have the valves checked every few thousand miles... If you do all the stuff right the first time, you SHOULD be in great shape, thats where I went wrong.
3.) I run a Barnett Clutch plate with the Kevlar pads... I LOVE them!! Just have to soak them for a day and readjust the clutch line every time, but I really dig this clutch.. When I first got it I felt like I got ripped off because of the fewer contact pads, but the SOB's really grab!!
I was at the Drag race track two weeks ago here in San Diego, and was running a VERY solid 8.6 et in the 1/8th mile... Almost a full second faster then stock with the 650R slip on, and K&N, back then my best was 9.1 et in the 1/8th mile.
If anyone has question's please feel free to PM me, just give me time to answer.
