It's not possible to post pictures directly from your computer. You need to upload them to the Internet first. You can upload your pics to your personal Web space that your ISP provides or to a picture hosting Website, like the following:
Type or cut and paste the URL (Web address) of the picture that you would like displayed in your post. This can be done by right-clicking on the picture and going to Properties. You can copy the complete URL in Properties.
Here's an example picture URL: http://www.4Strokes.com/images/banners/4Strokes.gif
After the URL is pasted in your topic, highlight the URL with your mouse and click the picture icon . This will insert image tags around the URL causing the image to display in your topic.
Example:
Important: Please do not use image tags on images larger than 640 pixels wide, as this throws off the formatting of our Website. Thanks for your cooperation!
For images larger than 640 pixels wide, you can either use just a link to the image or create a linked thumbnail image, as follows:
- imageshack - Use .th at end of image file name (filename.th.jpg)
- photobucket - Use th_ before image file name (th_filename.jpg)
- webshots - Use _th after image file name (filename_th.jpg)
- putfile - Use -thumb after image file name (filename-thumb.jpg)
- picturetrail - Use t- before image file name (t-filename.jpg)
- zoomshare - Replace image.jpg with thumb.jpg at end of image URL
- TinyPic - Use _th after image file name (filename_th.jpg)
- imagestation - ?
Another Example of Posting Pics in Topics
To post pictures in the forums, they need to be on the Internet already or uploaded to a picture hosting Website, like Photobucket. Then copy and paste the picture URL (Web address) in your post. For example; here's a picture URL from Photobucket:
[img ]http://s96.photobucket.com/albums/l182/Ecksarelle/MaierDiscGuard-far.jpg[/img ] (without spaces)
Then highlight the picture URL with your mouse and click the image icon , which results in the following:

Producing a Thumbnail Image
Please thumbnail images over 640-pixels wide to preserve the format of our Website. For example, to thumbnail a Photobucket image, just insert "th_" before the file-name, like so:
This: [img ]http://s96.photobucket.com/albums/l182/Ecksarelle/th_MaierDiscGuard-far.jpg[/img ] (without spaces)
Produces this:
Producing a Thumbnail Image with a Link to a Full-size Image
This: [url = "http://s96.photobucket.com/albums/l182/Ecksarelle/MaierDiscGuard-far.jpg" ][img ]http://s96.photobucket.com/albums/l182/Ecksarelle/th_MaierDiscGuard-far.jpg[/img ][/url ] (without spaces)
Produces this:

Trying to figure out how to upload pics with a topic. I'm technically challenged. Got a photobucket "account", got images downloaded to them. My question is...the URL I need to highlight is the one displayed at the top of the page when you have a specific image selected, right? Experimenting in the "oil cooler kits" forum. Looks like I made a little icon thingy appear when I inserted the image as directed. Maybe I did it right and I need to give it time to post. I think more likely I did something wrong. Just want to have it down when I get the oil cooler installed. Thanks, Jason |

| When on photobucket, click on the thumbnail image that you want to post in the forums. When the large image loads, hover over it and go to "share" and then "post to website," in the menu above the pic. Then click "Get link code," then copy the "Clickable thumbnail" URL under "IMG for bulletin boards & forums." |

| Dear Admin, I figured out how to post the pics. Pretty sure I had sized that large pic to be under 640 pixels wide? (See baja fender mod topic). Let me know if that's too big. I may have more learning to do. Something in between the thumbnail and the big picture would be good but I havent figured that out yet. OK...Nite-Nite. |
