| I have 6300 trouble free miles. Only changed the rear tire a couple times. Change oil on regular basis and clean air filter alot. But thats it. How many miles are people getting before top end rebuilds? |

rr333, I'm not sure about mileage before a rebuild. That really depends greatly on how hard it's road and the maintenance is kept up. Be that as it may, I think you might ask kubiak. He is the "king of monkey butt" at over 26,500 miles. |

My 2001 XR650L had 7141 when I bought it the day after Christmas. A little over a month later I've added almost 1000 miles to it (with the help of my son who put a few hundred on it).
Gotta fix a few odds and ends before piling up more miles. |

Gel seat, 250 miles a day. Wow must be girly men up north. I bought my XR650L October 2007 and in one year put on 17,741 miles in complete stock form except the Cee Baily windscreen. From Indiana to California. 5000 miles in the desert between Nevada & California. Then rode her back.
Come March she gets to do it again. As for tires I'm too cheap to spring for anything other than Kendas K270'S. $24 front $46 rear. But 5000 miles per rear seems pretty good to me. And double up front.
Not a single problem other than drive chains wearing out. But only use Honda synthetic {red bottle} oil. And change it and the filter every 2000 miles. And just how hard is that regardless of your location. If your worried about changing the oil, maybe your way in over your heads to adjust the valves away from home. Or just lazy.
I think the XRL is by far the best enduro on the market for less than 6k |

I got mine new in December 2007. On June 15, 2009 when it was stolen it had 11,200 and change. No troubles, changed oil every 1,000, filter every 2,000 and valve adjustment every 4,000. I used up the stock rear tire in 3,500 miles and replaced it with a Mefo Explorer, which still had a few thousand miles left on it. The stock front was coming due and would have probably done both at the same time.
