I have a chance to pick up a 2002 crf450r. I know this was honda's first year for this bike. Are they pretty solid, or should I hold out for a later model? Tim

I have a chance to buy a 2002 CRF450R. It has a seized motor, the price is $1200. I asked the local Honda dealer and he said it was not worth that. He said the price of getting the engine running was more than the bike was worth if running fine.

I was thinking of moving the forks and front assembly plus the carburetor to my XR650L and parting the remainder of the bike. I see on eBay there are guys buying brand new CRF450's and parting them, the parts must be worth more than the entire bike. Any thoughts?

98 XR650L - FCR-MX, Thumper Racing baffle, IMS 17 liter tank, XR250 oil cooler, etc.

A buddy of mine has one and rides at the ORV parks just about every weekend and has never complained. Save your self 4g's and buy a 2002
