Can anyone think of revisions Honda made to the big XRL since model inception?

Here is what I think changed:

Color (white to red) & graphics
Lowered seat height (-1"?).
Smaller diameter oil drain plug on frame down tube.
Deleted grease fittings on suspension linkage.

Any others??

intresting, any info out there on '88-'92? these are the first(L)s since the end of the "real" XLs in '87. Id just like to see some photos of original examples, mainly intrested in the '88 to see how much different they were from the '87 XLs.

the best thing they have done recently was going back to RED. removing the grease fitting cant be good but that lower one was extreamly vunerable when doing serious rock crawling.

early models had a 17 inch rear wheel till about 96
93 had a weak battery bracket that was updated on later models
93 had a different rake on the forks that was changed too
93-96 had socket bolts on engine cases, 97 and newer has 8mm heads
forks had drain bolts on pre 96
and still counting

1. Seat heigth lowered ~3/4" on 1994 models (according to my honda sales brochure)
2. My '93 was an early model (low vin no. & manufactured on 11/02) but came with an 18" rear wheel.
3. Fuse cover? Owners manual shows small fuse box cover. Service manual does not show this cover. My bike is missing fuse cover. microfiche said that part was dicontinued...
4. Interesting fact: My 93 came from the factory missing the small exhaust heat shield at the muffler/header joint! Go figure...Or it fell off.
5. My '93 has grease fittings on rear suspension, but I saw a new 2003 model without fittings.

I don't know why they would be deleted...I took a triple look at the brand new 2003 650L on the dealer floor. And as sure as the rising sun..the grease fitting were not present. In fact, I could see a casting mark where the top linkage fitting belongs. Go figure.
