Is there anyway I can make the rear shock more stiff or should I just buy a whole new shock.

We need a little more info before we can guide you. By stiffer do you mean your a big guy or gal and the bike sits to low in the back or is the back end to soft and you bottom out when you hit ruts or go over jumps??

I am a bigger guy and the bike bottoms out when I am riding through the trails.

OK now I know, thanks. I will suggest you go to the Race Tech web site and use the spring calculator where you enter the bikes info as well as yours and it will tell you what springs to use. I will also suggest you check both front forks and the rear spring at the same time and change both if it says you should so the bike is balanced. Once you have changed the springs then you set the sag and adjust the clickers and you should be good to go.
