Just bought a 04 CRF 250r and need to replace the gasket. I've got the crankcase cover off and have the new gasket. Are there any tricks to get the old one off? Because it will start to peel and then just rip off in small chunks and left residue behind. any tips or hints would be greatly appreciated.

Get a razor blade and scrape it off. Scrape it at a low angle so you don't gouge the surface.

Paint remover works great, just brush it on but try not to get it on any painted surfaces.

i like to use honda bond when i replace a gasket, it will make the seal everytime.
