One other mod I did that's cheap ($6-7.00), fairly quick and easy (2 small relays, 1 or 2 buzzers, wire, connectors), but very nice, is a L/R turn signal cancel - beeping alarm (Google: motorcycle flasher alarm). It's just loud enough to remind you to turn off your signal after you've turned and are rolling away. plus- while at the signal waiting- if you don't want to hear the "beep-beep-beep" you just apply the front or rear brake and it is bypassed. It's great.

2000 XR650L Dave's Mods, 160/55, 2.5 turns out, 900ft elevation, De-Smogged, Snorkel removed, UNI air filter, Big Gun Race Exhaust w/quiet insert.

Thanks for the mod tip. I once read an article that said get in the habit of every 10-20 seconds glancing in your rear view mirrors and push your turn signal switch to make sure it is off. I started doing that and now it is second nature. I hardly ever forget to turn it off. I just look in the mirror and press the signal button every so often.

If you look at some of some of the other mods on your google search you will see one that uses Diodes instead of relays.
I hooked it up with some thin wire I had laying around. 2 diodes, One side of each diode goes to positive side of pizo.
one wire goes from each diode to the positive feed for the turn signals (one for left, one for right). Unplug each turn signal positive wire under the headlight. run this thin hookup wire through the center of the mail pin of the turn signal end of the connector and fold it over. Slide the male pin back into the female connector and your set.
Then I got the ground through the brake switch side (positive) of the Brake light system that goes to the negative side of the pizo. When turn signal flashes (either one) the positive is feed "one way" through each diode and pizo buzzes because it is picking up ground that is feeding back through the brake light bulb. Hit the brakes and it the pizo stops buzzing.

No moving parts, and diodes cost pennies where relays cost a couple bucks each (if you go to radio shack).
Plus it also works as brake light bulb tester. If the brake light bulb burns out (open circuit) you will not get ground feed back through the bulb and the pizo will not buzz when the turn signals are on and brake switch is off. This alone could save your A$$ from a getting rear ended by a cager.

EDIT: I just checked my install. All you need to remember is a Diode is a "one way" valve. Electric can only go through it one way.

Wire this so the diodes are in line between the turn signal positive wires and the red wire on the Pizo buzzer.
The diode has a white stripe on one end.
Solder the lead from both diodes that has the white stripe on the end 0f the body, to the positive wire that goes to the pizo.
Solder a wire on the other end of each diode and run that that wire to the both the R and L positive turn wires.
Radioshack Diode 271-1114. Pizo 273-059 or LOUDER equiv 273-079

NOTE: This will not work on bikes with LED tail lights since an LED is also a diode and it will not feed back ground when not lit.
