I just bought all the parts needed to put '01 cr125 forks on my '98 xr400r. The only part i need are the bearings that fit both the xr400r race in the frame and the '01 cr125 steering stem. ThumperTDC has been a great help and informed me that bearings are available with these dimensions... Has anyone done this same swap and found these bearings? Thanks

So here is what I found out. All Balls has a bearing that is $40 each and you need two of them. You need to call them and tell them what it is for and they can get it to ya. With that said, I would call Boca Bearing first since they are a sponsor of this site and see if they have a bearing that will work. Both companies should have the measurements for both bikes. I personally would rather try to support a site sponsor before going the other route. Without the sponsors we would not have this forum.

Pretty sure that there is machining done to a bearing to make it fit. I've read of several guys that know the "ropes" that said there is no such bearing avaiable from any bearing supplier.
The original source for these was a Suzuki tuner shot and they made the bearings to put GSXR front end on SV650's for racing. Just happened to be the right size for mating XR/CR stuff. :)
Happy coincidence for us>

ThumperTDC, would you like to do a conversion for me? I have a CRF450 triple clamp, and an XR400 waiting for better forks :)
