85 XR600

Custom Wiring loom made by myself with detachable link which cuts out 12" of the loom to prevent theft.

I might move the cdi unit somewhere else on the bike so I can remove it instead to make it even harder to nick.

86 XL250R, Weisco Piston (bored, not sure by how much though, done previous to me owning the bike). SuperTrapp IDS2 Muffler (off a 425 Polaris Magnum, No aftermarket mufflers available, and Honda doesn't even make the stock one any more.)
Put a spacer on the spring of the shock, changed out to 20w fork oil
Drilled the air box for more breathing room
Renthal Bars.

Thats about it, bike runs good considering its only a 250 (though im still thinking of getting rid of it.)

These are some of the mods I've done to my 02 XR400 that I bought new in March of 2002
Race Tech .46 kg/mm fork springs
Removed 6 shims from fork compression valves
Superbrace fork brace
SRC fork wipers
Acerbis front disc guard
Acerbis Ralley Pro hand guards and spoilers
Jimmy Button bend Renthals
IMS superstock foot pegs
IMS rear disc guard
White Bros skid plate
SDG tall seat
XR's Only rear fender bag
Brake snake
Slotted trailing edge of front fender to increase airflow to cylinder head
Additional openings in headlight shroud to increase airflow to oil cooler
Removed backfire screen
Opened up airbox
Changed out pilot & main jets and needle
Ground welds in headers
HRC freeflow spark arrestor
I've set this bike up to work for me here in the desert. Since I've gotten it, I have had the opportunity to ride alot of newer bikes, but for the type of riding I do, I have yet to find one that's as easy to ride and is as much fun and reliable.
Pictures in the image gallery.

Noobie here! I have a '03 XR650R purchased about 3 weeks ago, has a Baja Designs street legal light kit and is also street plated in CA(of all places!). It has a Big Gun full racing exhaust system(healthy mid&top end hit and noise level!) and has been jetted and modded accordingly with the airbox mods and currently runs a 170 main & HRC jet needle(3rd notch) with a 68s slow jet--starts one kick hot or cold. I installed some dual sport tires and 15/43 gearing to help lower RPM's on the freeway and give a much smoother ride. I also installed a 4 gallon aftermarket tank to increase range and allow me to see the amount of fuel left-real nice fuel gauge!
This bike hauls some serious a$$ and has trouble keeping the front wheel on the ground in the 1st 3 gears, and has me up to 70mph in what seems like a heartbeat. This bike, all in all, will make a seriously great urban assault vehicle and return some good mpg in the process!
Glad to be in here, thanx!
Mark

I'm baaaaaack! Hey, Tony (ThumperTDC)! Remember me? C.J. (Wudscrasher) in Colorado from a few years ago. Well, I sold my XR4 in 2004 and dropped off the forum. In 2006, I was back on my feet & bought a KDX220, beefed it up, and have been riding the pizz out of it around Idaho, Utah, Colorado & Arkansas with it since. A few weeks ago, I picked up a 1997 XR400 w/ either a high-compression piston or a big-bore kit (dunno, haven't pulled the cylinder off to check), but this guy is STRONG! So, I'm back on 4Strokes since I don't have to mix gas & oil with this one. I also bought an SV650 a year ago to compliment my dirt riding. My XR is titled, so I'm just putting on the CO DOT required parts, and should be ready to register soon. As my 'Dual-Sport' ride, I can finally just leave the house with my camping gear, and get lost in the hills & valleys of Colorado! Just wanted to pop in and say 'Hi!', and hope the past few years have brought you all many memorable trail-tales. Lord knows I have quite a few myself - we live in an amazing country, and my bikes have taken me to some amazing places! Glad to be back, Tony :D I'll be buggin' you guys for fixes & parts, I'm sure!

Newbie from the UK here. I bought my'97 XR400R back in 1999 & it was an import from Canada so was quite a bit differant from the UK spec bike.
Here's a few bits that I have done...

Ohlins rear shock.
Devol lowering link anodized red.
Renthal Enduro bend bars.
Aeroquip brake hoses.
Ferodo brake pads.
Renthal front & rear sprockets.
D.I.D. drive chain.
EBC discs...the rear is rubbish & will be changed soon.
Heavier front fork springs.
Dural wheel & bearing spacers.
Dural plate sprocket & disc guards anodised red.
Shorty clutch lever.
Stainless exhaust outlet from White Bros.
D.E.P. race exhaust for enduros.
I.M.S. bigger tank for the long distance rides.
K&N air filter.
Modified carb with HRC A16A needle, modified slide & bigger jets.
Precision Concepts choke plate.
Ignition box relocated to top of the airbox.

17" motard wheels...occasionally.

Newbie from socal, and here is what I got:

1984 Honda XR250r- mostly stock, new piston kit (std. bore), custom electric cooling fans, XRs Only temp dip stick.

I used to have a crf50 back in the day. I'd like to get an xr100 for my wife to ride (and as a fun project bike)
