I would love to do that to my 84 xr500 but I am still trying to find a donor bike that would take the big engine and dual carbs. If you have any suggestions post them.

Hi Peetey, I have a friend who is transplanting a 83 XR500 into a 89 CR250,But I think the best bet would be a KX500/CR500,They have heaps of room to play with. It's a big job but well worth it.

Cool Bike! You guys in the "down under" are great! Nice Job! Looks very well done.

A cr500/kx500..HMMM! I might just have to look into that. Thanks Kiwiracer.

Great job! looks cool. I have a 83xr350r that I wouldn't mind doing that to. Anybody have a donor cr500?
3/8/2004 by KIWIRACER
Hi Guys, Go for it, This bike has attracted heaps of attention, Most people ask how much it would take to part with it, there's nothing wrong with the "ol" XR banger in the right frame.

Great work! How about some more pic's to see how it's done I need to build one for my 14yr old.
3/10/2004 by KIWIRACER
Hi guys, Hmmm yes I have some pics of it in the making, I'll try posting them soon.

Are those cr500 radiator shrouds??
3/14/2004 by Kiwiracer
To bob, No there the CR125 ones, But I think that the 500 has the same shrouds? Honda should have done this years ago, Would have saved me the trouble.

I'm busy planning putting a 125cc 4stroke into CR/YZ/RM/KX125 frame. How much hassles did you have lining everything up?
12/12/2007 by lachy the xr boy
nice job bro im thinkin of doing that wit my 2002 xr200 tis good thou but hmm a cr125 is nice then agian take the trubble put it into a 85 now that would be great power to weight!!!!!!! also done a peewee 80- with a chinese 150 moter
10/28/2008 by bubbaxr200
My dad did that but he used a yz 80 frame

Nice job! I have done one already with an 1987 rm 80 frame and an xr 100 engine and I love the little bike. My next project is waiting in my garage and motor is being rebuilt right now. Its a 1988 cr 125 rolling chassis and and XR 200 motor. If you are a decent welder I find the conversion to be very straight forward but what was your solution to the air box problem? I will figure it when I am at that stage of the game. Good work!

Ok, I'm in the process right now of putting an engine from a 1980 Honda XL500 into a 1990 YZ250 frame. It seems like it will match up with some custom fabrication. Doesn't this sound like a sweet idea? I have 38 days until my trip to Moab, Utah do you guys think I can accomplish this in time? It's very important that you let me know. It will be the best of both worlds... 500cc four-stroke engine in a light, long travel suspension, disc brakes, YZ frame. What do you guys think?
3/15/2009 11:11:07 PM by getbuck911
Ok guys, I'm leaving on the 21st of April to go to Moab. I need some feedback in the next couple of days on whether this is a good idea or not. Please hurry!!!

Really nice work with the CR/XR conversion. Looks almost like that 200 was meant to be in there. Even though I hate to see a good two-stroke gone. This is probably a blast to ride and will outlive the dirt it rides on with that engine.

I have a 1981 XR200R. Do you think it's good idea to fit the motor into an RM125?
10/24/2009 8:16:04 PM by sparksxr
Love your bike! I'm starting to try to put one together, a '91 CR/'02 XR. Can you take some pics of the right side? I'd like to see what you've done for the carb and air filter problem and kick starter.
